A Reward For His Suffering
It’s coming up on Resurrection Sunday, the day we celebrate THE most important event in all of human history. The day that changed EVERYTHING. The day sin and death met its match in the Son of the Living God. The day sin and death were not only paid for, but conquered. The day Jesus walked out of the same grave that attempted to steal our only hope of salvation—our only hope, period.
Yesterday I was talking to the Lord and thanking Him for His sacrifice. I felt He showed me that He was mindful of me—ME—while on the cross. And before you think I have delusions of grandeur (LOL!), I felt He said He was mindful of ALL of us—of EACH of us. That is what got Him through.
He is the God who knows EACH of us and calls us ALL by name. We are “the joy that was set before Him,” that enabled Him to endure the cross. In His heart, we are what made the pain of His suffering worth it! What a mystery of Love!
In Jesus we have a love so encompassing that we have not the mind to comprehend it. Be mindful this week. Thank Him. Give Him your heart, afresh. God’s extravagant love was not only poured out for all of mankind, but for YOU. Let that truly sink in. Jesus would have gone through the horrific torture of the cross—just for YOU! Rejoice in that mind-blowing fact!
Ask yourself, "Am I giving Him a reward for His suffering?"
I'm not speaking of performance here. I'm not speaking of doing for Him. That is a topic for another day. I’m speaking of “being.” Loving Him—choosing Him above all else—is a reward for His suffering. Let’s be intentional to choose Him above all else in our hearts. So many things vie for our time, attention and affection. Yet nothing and no one deserves these more than the One who laid down His very life for us.
As for me and my house, I plan to lavish "reward" on Him. Will you join me? This Resurrection Sunday, let’s touch His heart and bring Him joy.

“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God,” (Hebrews 12:2, BSB).
“I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.]” (Jesus, John 16:33, Amplified Bible)
